Gann's Cycles in Soybeans

The description of my presentation is:
Using Gann's Time Cycles to Project the Time of Soybean
Intermediate-Term Highs and Lows for 2007

Biography:

Ernie Quigley is the founder and president of Harmonic Timing. Educated in corporate finance at the University of Kansas, Ernie entered into the stock market in the late 1960s. He became a stockbroker for Hornblower & Weeks - Hemphill & Noyes, a New York Stock Exchange member firm in 1969. This association led him to study the "technical" side of analysis. He studied the works of George Lindsay, Edson Gould, Larry Williams, and the up and coming computer expert, William O'Neil.

In the mid-1970s Mr. Quigley left the brokerage business but continued his market studies. In the early 1980s he developed a keen interest in cycles and the works of the legendary W.D. Gann. His passion for knowledge led him to study for a number of years with Jerome Baumring, Ph.D., an internationally recognized authority on WD Gann.

“Jerry” required his students to follow in Gann’s footsteps by reading the works on Gann’s recommended reading list that were available. (These books, mainly from the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, are very rare and out of print. Jerry had almost a complete collection of the books on this list and shared them with his students.) Jerry required his students to hand chart data in the way W.D. Gann hand charted is data. Ernie has hand charted the price of soybeans from the date of the first trade on October 5, 1936 to October 13, 1989.

In February of 1994 Mr. Quigley purchased the first book of Bradley F. Cowan's series of books. Mr. Cowan has greatly influenced the analysis work of Mr. Quigley. Ernie considers Mr. Cowan to be THE foremost expert in the use of Gann’s natural cycles in forecasting various markets.

Ernie Quigley guides the research Harmonic Timing and is the writer of its publications.

Cycles in the DJIA and on Gold mta presentation by Walter Bressert

Walter Bressert
Walter Bressert Inc.
http://www.walterbressert.com

Cycles in the DJIA and on Gold mta presentation

Biography,

Walter, who is credited with bringing cycles into the futures markets, became interested in cycles in the late 1960s. He studied everything available at the time, including volumes of information published by the Foundation for the Study of Cycles, and Jim Hurst's classic book on cycles, "The Profit Magic of Stock Transaction Timing". He also attended several of Jim's workshops. Walter was a trader, and in applying the concepts from Hurst's book and workshops, and the Foundation, he realized that something was missing. There was plenty of theory on how to use cycles, but no quantification, or structure, that would allow him to trade the markets cyclically with confidence.

He researched the historical performance of the markets, focusing on quantifying the cycles and combining cycles with price performance, including Fibonnaci relationships of time and price. He studied the works of Edwards and Magee, W.D. Gann, Gartley and R.N. Elliott, blending the timing of cycles with the best of the works of others who had studied the market in-depth. It was at this time Walter began using a combination of oscillators and Timing Bands, which compensates for the tendency of cycles to contract and extend. The result of his extensive research was the Bressert Method of Cycle Analysis. Much of the terminology used by cycle analysts today originates with the terminology Walter used to describe cyclic activity for specific cycles that he isolated over 25 years ago. This method, greatly improved by the addition of Oscillator/Cycle Combinations, is still traded today by many who learned it in the 70s and 80s.

In 1974, he began publishing the HAL Commodity Cycles newsletter to make this information available to other traders. Focusing on the futures markets, HAL quickly grew to become one of the largest and most popular newsletters in the business. As Futures magazine stated - "He gets the readership he deserves because he is right so often".

In 1976, at the request of his subscribers, he began teaching workshops on trading cycles using the Bressert Method. Over the years he has taught thousands of commodity traders, brokers and money managers in the U.S., Europe and Asia how to use cycles to improve their timing.

Walter had been working with oscillators for many years before he joined with Tim Slater in 1979 to build CompuTrac, the first computerized market analysis program available to the public.

After publishing HAL Commodity Cycles for 12 years, of which 10 of the 12 years were profitable, he retired in 1985. In 1990, he saw the need for a book on combining oscillators and cycles, and published "The Power of Oscillator/Cycle Combinations" in 1991. (This book is now outdated with the advent of computerized analysis.)

From 1991 through 1995, he published the CycleWatch newsletter, which forecast time and price moves weeks and months into the future in the S&P Index, Bonds, Precious Metals, Currencies and the Agricultural markets. CycleWatch was available as a daily fax-on-demand, and via DBC Signal, FutureLink and DTN. Walter's trading recommendations were also featured on the Futures magazine AllStar Advisor's Hotline.

In 1994, Walter developed award-winning software that over the years has evolved into his current software ProfitTrader. Based on his timing methodology, ProfitTrader identifies trend and trend reversals, plus generates mechanical BUY/SELL signals. Today, as editor and publisher of the WB Intraday Review & Forecaster and WB Trades OnLine, he provides daily commentary and trade recommendations on the S&P 500. His recommendations and forecasts are instructional so traders can learn the "how and why" to make their own trading decisions.

The Timing Bands he built for the markets in the early 70s are still valid and much improved. The addition of oscillators and his techniques to enhance oscillator performance greatly improve the ability of anyone - beginner or expert - to trade tops and bottoms of cycles as they are occurring . The real key to trading with cycles is to first identify trend direction, then buy bottoms if the trend is up, and sell tops if the trend is down. The interaction of cycles within cycles shows specific patterns that help identify trend reversals as they are occurring, and in iday trading it is these trend reversals that are often followed by the big intraday moves.

Walter was a director and president of the non-profit Foundation for the Study of Cycles. He has lectured internationally for more than twenty years and written articles for the Wall Street Journal, Barron's, Futures magazine and the "Commodity Research Bureau Yearbook". He was a contributing editor to the Financial News Network and has appeared on CNBC from time-to-time as a guest speaker.

The Benefits of Systematic Trading by Dario Grear

Dario Grear
http://minidaytrader.net

The Benefits of Systematic Trading

Dario will focus on e-mini index trading as he covers the psychology of trading, what to expect from systematic trading, trading through drawdowns, the pitfalls of system “jumping,” and more.

Biography

Dario Grear (system trader) and Scott Winthrop (system developer) have been close friends for over 20 years. So naturally when Scott became interested in the Stock Market he shared his enthusiasm with Dario. Dario also became excited and has since worked with Scott in teaching and trading the futures markets.

Ever since High School, Scott wanted to start his own business. With money he had saved, he bought a franchise in the car rental industry. He started with 3 cars and built it up to a fleet of 50 cars with 2 locations. Unsettled, he wanted to try something different. In the summer of 1999 he began hearing about opportunities in the stock market and decided to take his first trading course. The course prompted him to open his first trading account for buying penny stocks with some friends. “When I started watching charts I experienced a kind of love at first sight,” Scott reflects.

Soon after, he saw an ad about a course that taught how to make money trading the S&P 500 E-minis. He was intrigued. The more he found out about the futures market, the more he wanted to get involved. In October1999, he made his first trade in the S&P E-Mini market. He made a whopping 37 dollars that day and was hooked!

“Right around this time, I read The Disciplined Trader: Developing Winning Attitudes by Mark Douglas. I realized that it was going to take some time to hone my skills but I was in it for the long haul. As a new trader I learned a lot about technical analysis, market indicators, and the fundamentals of trading. Another big lesson was learning to respect the markets. Over the years I have continually observed price movement and psychological impact on the market. This has given me the insight to improve my personal trading skills and put my own style into play,” Scott says.

“I’ve traded several of the other E-mini markets with moderate success but I prefer the S&P 500 E-mini due to its liquidity, limited slippage, and ease of execution. Each market has its own personality and I fit in well with the S&P.”

“I feel a person needs to have a relatively fixed strategy that allows for modification. The market reveals a little of itself each day. It’s a never ending story so a trader needs to be adaptable.”

“The only thing a trader can control is his risk. Gains are arbitrary. So the majority of my systems revolve around risk management. I also focus on fundamental and technical market data which I translate into a completely mechanical system that identifies high probability turning points in the market,” says Scott. “I look for consistency in my systems and take the trades as they come; home runs or base hits. That’s why I trade with 2 positions, one for base hits and the other for potential home runs.”

“If I had to point out the biggest lessons I have learned along the way, they are simple. Discipline, Patience, and Risk Management. Follow your rules and let the trade come to you!”

Combining Candlestick Signals with Technical Indicators by Steve Bigalow

Steve Bigalow

Combining Candlestick Signals with Technical Indicators

Description: Steve will explain how to develop a trading plan by incorporating indicators such as stochastics, moving averages, Fibonacci numbers or trend lines into candlestick analysis.

Biography

When Steve Bigalow first started using candlestick analysis in the late 80’s, his trading was decidedly low-tech. He would call in his orders from a phone tied to the dashboard of his truck while driving to real estate renovation projects.

Fast forward twenty years. Bigalow long ago traded in the pick-up for a Mercedes SL500, and he has no time for house rehabbing anymore. He is now considered one of the top candlestick experts in the country. Along with luminaries like Steve Nissin and Greg Morris, he is among a select group of teachers who helped bring the 400-year-old Japanese art to mainstream acceptance in the U.S. He consults regularly with money managers on how to apply candlesticks to their fundamental research and trading. Bigalow’s accomplishments have been great but not easy.

“I pretty much had to figure it out for myself,” Bigalow says, “because when I started there wasn’t a whole lot of information around at that time. In the early to mid 90’s a few books came out, which I was excited to see, but when I read them, they weren’t anything more than I already knew. They didn’t show you how to trade with candlesticks successfully.

“So that’s why I wrote my first book, ( Profitable Candlestick Trading: Pinpointing Market Opportunities to Maximize Profits , John Wiley & Sons, 2001) to take all the information that was out there on candlestick investing and consolidate it into what you really needed to know to make a successful trading plan.”

Like a bar chart, a candlestick line depicts the open, high, low and close. The body of the stick represents the range between the open and close. When the body is hollow, the close was higher than the open; when the body is filled in, the close was lower than the open. Shadows, the thin lines above and below the body, represent the high and low of the day's trading range.

“The boxes have quite a bit of information built into them to tell you when a reversal is going on in a trend” Steve notes. He believes traders can build successful strategies by combining candlestick analysis with indicators such as stochastics, moving averages, Fibonacci numbers or trend lines.

Candlesticks were first brought to Bigalow’s attention by a friend who wanted to tap into Steve’s experience as a former stockbroker. “I didn’t do anything real aggressive with it for two or three months, but it kept bugging me to look at it,” Bigalow says. “Within that first year of study I started trading my commodity account based off of candlesticks, and while I did a lot better than I had been doing, it was a learning process. It took a lot of hard knocks to fight through the emotions of trading and learn the necessary discipline.”

Bigalow followed the first book with High Profit Candlestick Patterns: Turning Investor Sentiment into High Profits (Profit Publishing, 2005). He developed a trading resource web site at www.candlestickforum.com that provides tools for beginning through advanced chartists.

Gann Grids Ultra

Days, Weeks or even Months of research can now be done in just a few seconds with this new, improved and impressive version of Gann Grids.

Just imagine researching the stocks, commodities or index’s of your choice, placing it on any one of several grids per square inch settings, changing around the price scale until you find the proper price scale vibration which works in harmony with the programs included tools such as:

The Gann square tool with user defined settings (make any number square you want)
Time bar count tool
Price bar count tool
AB range division tool
Square of nine square root angle tool
User defined angle tool
Cycle research tool
Fibonacci number overlay tool
Numerical squares, half squares, and quarter squares overlay tool
User defined price scale tool
User defined grid size tool
And several others

Not to mention 7 extremely user friendly astro research tools such as

The Astro fingerprint tool
Ephemeris tool
Aspect date locater tool
Specific zodiac degree aspect tool
Zodiac hot spot locater tool
Planetary price channel overlay tool
and Planet progression tool

This section of the program was specifically developed to find hot aspects and degrees of the zodiac present around most of the major and minor trend change periods along with finding the natural and mundane energy date clusters using the ephemeris tool.

The findings and dates can then be highlighted on screen with the click of a button thus isolating potential turning dates into its future!.

These specialized astro tools are primarily used for isolating key dates from past trend change periods analyzed, dissected then projecting forward up to 5 years.

The reasons behind the development of the Gann Grids printing program

The reason for this program was out of sheer necessity as it was taking me much too long to hand draw all the various price and time charts on different grid sizes and price scale settings. This in itself is a very time consuming and frustrating project to say the least as most Gann theorists already know. It could literally take days, weeks, or even months to complete. However now thanks to the Gann Grids Printing Program these same blank charts could literally be printed in just minutes thus saving the user his/her precious time for further cycle study. These charts when systematically combined with the proper background knowledge of the master forecasting tools written about by the 3 great trading masters, WD Gann, Gorge Bayer and RN Elliot you will no doubt be one step closer to the truth about the hidden `WHYS' within the fluctuations of our universal markets.

Biography:

Robert Giordano has worked in several brokerage houses starting in 1993 up to the present.
he is series 7 and 63 registered along with holding a New York city real estate brokers license.

Mr. Giordano presently works full time for a New York City agency and devotes his spare time to developing the company "PVTPOINT MARKET RESEARCH" Along with over seeing the development of his specialized technical research programs such as "The Gann Grids Printing Program", "The Gann Grids Ultra Program" and others

He started studying technical analysis in 1992 and began researching the trading systems of WD Gann, George Bayer, RN Elliot along with many others in 1993
Several years were spent studying Uranian astrology with Arlene Nimark who is in his opinion a modern day astrology master.

Several years were also spent studying many metaphysic theories from such authors as Johndro, Levi, Bardon, Case, sepharial, Jensen, Dewey, Parker and others on such subjects as ancient astrology, astronomy, numerology, sacred proportions, time cycles, electrical engineering theories and more

After realizing how much work and time was needed to hand draw all the different price and time charts needed to research Gann and Bayer's unique tools and ideas he developed the "Gann Grids Printing Program" at first for personal use and later for resale.

Some of Mr Giordano's hobbies are:
weight training, mountain climbing, hiking, biking, camping ,and fishing, but his passion is technical forecasting research and trading.

"Position Sizing - the Simple Secret" by Steve Griffiths

"Position Sizing - the Simple Secret"

'With over 20 years' trading experience, Steve will show exactly why your chances of trading success are minimal unless you know what Position Sizing is.
He will explain clearly why the amateur's desperate search for a high winning accuracy or forecasting future moves is futile compared with proper money management. Give up the quest to be right...and start the quest to make money.

Biography:

Steve Griffiths is the developer and managing director at MTPredictor Ltd., the global specialist trading software firm which helps find, assess and manage low risk/high return trades. He mentors traders worldwide on a daily basis.

He started professional life as a mechanical engineer in the UK, however he started managing his own trading fund in 1987. Finding an edge in real day-to-day trading has been his quest since.

Steve naturally became more involved in supporting other traders as time passed, including representing various software firms in the U.K. Nevertheless, his aim became his passion - to identify a high probability trade set-up allowing entry with a small, controlled risk…then applying simple, consistent trade management techniques…to yield trades that, on average, deliver profits far in excess of the losses.

In 2001, Steve launched his own MTPredictor™ trading software. Unlike many other programs on the market, trade identification, risk analysis, position-sizing, trade management and ease-of-use are the hallmarks of MTPredictor. Steve believes that the most important aspect to trading is a simple, tight approach. The ability to identify a tradable opportunity that allows entry into the market with a small, controlled risk, backed by a strong risk/reward profile - time after time - is paramount.
